Específicas
CE 9 - Analizar la lengua inglesa desde el conocimiento de sus distintos períodos, su sintaxis, su semántica, los estudios de lingüística aplicada, y el análisis del discurso, así como la pragmática de la lengua inglesa.
CE 13 - Profundizar en aspectos sincrónicos del inglés (su relación con la sociedad, los vínculos entre discurso y lengua, las variedades del inglés, su tipología textual, la investigación lingüística y el uso de medios computacionales o la interacción de imagen y texto).
CE 9 - To analyze the English language, paying attention to its different periods, its syntax, its semantics, the studies of applied linguistics, and discourse analysis, as well as the pragmatics of the English language.
CE 13 – To further the understanding of synchronic aspects of the English language (its relationship with society, the connection between discourse and language, the varieties of English, text types, linguistic research and the use of digital media or the interaction between image and text).

Presentaciones
Presentaciones orales sobre temas relacionados con los contenidos impartidos en las clases teórico-prácticas para evaluar la comprensión de los conceptos y enfoques abordados así como su aplicabilidad práctica. Estas presentaciones se realizarán de manera individual, en parejas o en grupos pequeños, dependiendo de las características del grupo, y formarán parte de la nota de clase.

Oral presentations about topics related to the contents taught in the theoretical and practical sessions so to assess students¿ understanding of the contents and approaches introduced as well as their practical applicability. These presentations will be given individually, in pairs or in groups, depending on the characteristics of the group, and they will be part of the class mark.

Exámenes/Tests escritos: 3-6 horas
Actividades no presenciales: 90-100 horas dedicadas a tareas, tales como ejercicios para casa, preparación de presentaciones orales, lectura de bibliografía, preparación de exámenes o resolución de problemas.

Breve descriptor:

Se trata de un curso con carácter práctico para familiarizarse con el análisis del discurso de diferentes tipos de texto tanto escritos como orales.

 

This is a very practical course in which students will become familiar with the analysis of discourse in different types of texts, both written and spoken.

Requisitos

Aunque no es requisito para cursar esta asignatura, es recomendable tener conocimientos de Pragmática inglesa.

Although it is not a requisite to enroll in this subject, it is recommended that students are familiar with English Pragmatics.

Objetivos

En primer lugar, se busca familiarizar al alumnado con el campo del Análisis del Discurso mediante el estudio de los conceptos, herramientas y enfoques más relevantes. En segundo lugar, se pretende ayudar al alumnado a desarrollar la capacidad de aplicar estos conocimientos al análisis de textos reales, tanto orales como escritos. En este sentido, se considerarán también perspectivas más recientes en el ámbito de estudio a fin de fomentar la capacidad analítica e interpretativa del discurso contemporáneo.

 

First, this course is aimed to help students become familiar with the field of Discourse Analysis by delving into its most relevant concepts, tools and approaches. Second, it seeks to help students develop their capacity to apply this knowledge to the analysis of naturally occurring discourse and texts, both oral and written. In this sense, the course will also address new trends in the field with the aim of promoting students¿ analytical and interpretative skills of contemporary discourse.

3. Enfoques y herramientas del análisis del discurso.

4. El análisis de la conversación. Organización de la conversación y mecanismos de reparación. 

5. Nuevas tendencias en el Análisis del Discurso. Comunicación digital. Discurso global.

Evaluación

Se tendrán en cuenta tanto las pruebas teórico-prácticas que se realicen así como la asistencia a y la participación activa en las clases; la realización de las actividades prácticas requeridas en el aula y/o fuera de ella, y las presentaciones orales.

De manera específica, las calificaciones se repartirán distribuidas dentro de la siguiente horquilla:
Examen/Ejercicio teórico y práctico: 50-70 %
Tareas o trabajos prácticos y presentaciones orales: 20-30 %
Asistencia y participación activa en clase: 5-20%

Assessment

The assessment will consider theory and practical tests as well as the attendance to and active participation in classes, the fulfilment of the required tasks in or outside the classroom and the oral presentations.

Specifically, the final grade will be distributed as follows:
Theoretical and Practical test: 50-70%
Practical tasks /Homework and oral presentations: 20-30%
Attendance and active participation in class: 5-20%
